being a christian
My first topic would be on being a Christian. Many would be surprised that I am a Christian, maybe because of the fact that I do not attend church nor read the bible nor pray everytime before a meal. But I do believe in God, and that he made this earth and men, is that not the most important thing? Many people have the impression that a Christian MUST go to church every Sunday, MUST pray before meals and MUST read the Bible. Yes, i agree that this would be a good Christian, but compare one who fits the above criteria but yet does all of them under force and not his/her own will. Does that make him/her a better Christian than one who believes in God but do not do all the things above (like me, for example).
I did attend church for a period of time, but it was a very short period of 3 weeks. I followed my friend to a church's youth group. The people were friendly, kind, honest, passionate, almost perfect. I felt like a fish out of water, so I stopped going. Yes, it may be rude to just pop in and out like that, but I would not be happy there, and I believe that they woud understand.
My mom also often talks about church. From her, I learnt that there were lots of politics involved. And worse, back-stabbing and fraud, all in a holy place. It was shocking news, to think that such bad acts of men could be commited under the roof of God. This made my impression of church even worse than before.
Presently, my parents, my grandma, and friends are all persuading me to go to church. But I do not think I could step into a place, a place filled with jealously and tricks hidden behind a mask of passion and love. I'd rather stay at home, and continue to keep pray every night. And even though this is not much, it is still how I show my worship to God.
